max,

Going coilovers, especially short stroke is alot of work. Definately a must if you want to do serious lowering or have interest in racing/drifting, but if I understood oldskool correctly when I talked to him, his interest is in getting a replacement for his aging suspention that feels a bit more sporty. Lowering the car a bit is just for the improved looks. With just a 30mm drop new quality shocks with a nice apex set will do more then fine for the type of use intended.

When I bought my car it had the APEX springs and KONIs set to the lowest setting. I was very pleased with the way my car handled on the road. It wasn't until I started doing some serious track driving that I figured the car was in much need to be improved. But for normal road driving it is more then enough.

APEX with Tokico blue sounds like the best buy to me if you just want a slightly lowered better then stock daily driver. It won't brake the bank (its atleast 4x cheaper then a good coilover/shortstroke conversion) and give you a comfortable sporty ride.

I wouldn't go for KONIs unless you like spending money. KONIs (or other adjustable shocks) are a must when you want to do track driving but then I would always go short stroke and get the KONIs adjustable on car. Thats my end goal in a few years for my suspention but its total overkill for oldskool.
