alimonos, the AE86 yellow koni's are designed to fit within the stock AE86 strut casings, you do not need to shorten them. They are a direct replacement.
Whether they work together with your coilover set all depends on the springrate of your springs you're using. If you use a very high spring rate your springs will come loose when your car is off the ground due to the springs being shorter. This for me was the reason to go for tokico's and shorten the struts. Also its more optimal as it gives you more travel due to the lowering of your car due to the shorter springs.
