Actually, one can easily build a speed limit defender to most older Toyotas for about half a euro. Since the SLD is actually just a frequency divider, the only part you'd need is a 4024 CMOS 7-bit ripple counter.

The chip needs to be added into the ECU - sort of like a modchip to a game console. The SPD signal is disconnected from the board and fed to the clock input on the chip. The Q1 output from the chip is then fed back to the ECU instead of the original SPD signal. Now just connect ground from the ECU to Vss and reset on the chip, and 12V to Vdd and you're done.

With this SLD, the SPD signal frequency is effectively halved and the limiter will kick in at 360km/h, which is certainly enough. Big Grin
