Cams around the 270-280 area with 8-9mm lift are what i used to run and keep the power low down. Combined wth some headwork which is easy to see where you can improve even with a dremel. i.e matching inlet manifold ports to head ports and gaskets.
Should set you back no more than £500, i sold a pair of HKS cams for £200.
