Got a few hours to spare ??
Shims are adjusted by measuring the clearance between the shim
and the back of the cam. If you need to adjust the clearance, you take out the existing shim and replace it with a shim that is either thicker or thinner. You can do it yourself if you have patience and measuring tools (feeler gauges and micrometer/verniers). If you need new shims, you will have to buy them from Toyota (expensive) or see if you can get used ones from other 4AGE owners Or you can take the car to the Toyota Service Centre and have them do the job... depends on how busy you are, and how much you want to spend.
