Trueno Coupe South Africa
Hey guys
My name is Miggz and im from South Africa. I have been infatuated with the ae86 since 2006 and looked long and hard for one, but to get one here would pretty much cost the price of a single bedroom flat here. So could always look but never get hahaha. I knew of 3 here in Sa 1 being a panda trueno hatch and a drift levin all 1600+km away from me and would never sell, then heard of a silver levin ae86 that was somewhere around my province but heard if the guy would sell would be double what it would cost me to import so also a no deal. So i would just build models of them, get the clothing and use the ae86 on what ever car game I played. Then my mate with the panda told me he knew of someone that might know someone that knew someone else that might have a Trueno but it was a coupe and a 85. So obviously i jumped all over that and started the search. Got in contact with the people relevant and got some pictures of the car to find out it was a AUTO.... not a deal breaker and not a big deal either. Then i found out that these is a issue with the carbs and it would not drive so thought o well Ill get a trailer load up and come home Here are some pics of the car. no damage to the dash its clean only rust we could find and it was on the sunroof so ill just make one out of carbon fiber was a bit upset about this continue on next post.... The continuation.... So the seller accepted my offer and we got prepped to leave for our 1300km+- round strip we left at 3am 12 Feb morning to go get stopped for some food... and off we go again Driver: Qubitt Back seat driver: Bennie aka peanuts Passenger seat driver: Meeeeeeeeeeee aka Miggz some epic views +- 8 hours later we were at the spot I was inlove.... So we paid the man, got the papers and loaded up quickly before he realized what he is giving away Drive back was stressful and crapping myself over every bump... We had to stop a few times because it was so hot that the pickup was getting a little toasty climbing the steep hills and huge traffic. O and some pee breaks after like 4 cans of monster. So we arrived to my mate Qubitts house offloaded and then said our goodbyes got in my car and left to go home and drop peanuts off as well. The total time from leaving home and getting back was 18hr24m of being home.... next post will be what is next and what i plan on doing Thanks for the views Things ill be doing: wanted to respray it black and white but after some thought maybe it would be more legit (for me) to keep it the original colour just give it a blow over and do the panda black on the parts. Then i need to either get new oem stickers or just make them myself. Make carbon fiber bonnet and boot. (make myself) need a left hand side light lid and front piece. Think this is a kouki front bumper so need new lights for that as its cracked Removing that boot spoiler and adding the small lip one GTS side skirts The Sunroof ill make a carbon one as well. Then some japan racing jr19 wheels in 15" Need to figure out et and j Coilovers... dont know what brand. brakes ill do the fd front upgrade, rear ill make up my own thing. I NEED A RHS FRONT WINDOW mine is broken Interior: Ill do cf non reclinable BRIDE buckets with black TAKATA harnesses and build my own cage again do some gauges (would like the setup Takumi had. Then motor im going for a 20v setup with management and keep it NA (got most of those parts) Next Update.... Nothing magical, went to my mates house to go have a look at my hachi. Hooked up my Audi to give it some power for the first time...... was so excited to see those lights pop up Dont know yet how all the buttons work but I was pushing everything hahaha Some interior pictures Then moved her back into her spot for the next few weeks or months till I get the chance to tow it back to my house and get it running ....... ordered some parts from japan this week as well. Front Rhs Window Clutch, brake and Acc peddle box ae86 top shock strut brace LHS Garnish for the headlight Both headlight covers TRUENO badge for the bumper |

Congratulations on the find. I know how hard it is in some countries to get nice cars or even parts for that matter. It looks to be in very good condition overall, especially as it doesn't seem to have undersealing. Just do me one favour and remove those modern Toyota badges... they realy don't suit the car in my opinion. Have fun building it and keep us posted.

Wow! Congratulations on the find!
It seems to be, apart from the sunroof, in great condition! The sunroof is a know issue of the 80s Toyotas: the drainpipes for the sunroof get blocked after a while and this leaves the moist around the runroof. I had the same thing with mine. You can also find frp or carbon headlight covers, but most of the time it will be more expensive than a good second hand item. And bonus points for the towing hook! There is only one AE86 I've seen before that featured one. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Congratulations on the find, looks to be in good condition! The interior doesn't look worn either, which is great.
Interesting to see a Kouki front bumper on an AE85. Might have been swapped? |
