New guy from Germany with question about an 86 (pics inside)
Hey dudes,
my name´s Andy, I am 23 years old and live in the eastern part of Germany (maybe some of you know the city Chemnitz). My hobbys are cars (I guess nobody expected that ) and building model cars. At the moment my daily driver is a 1997 Ford Escort (needs to be replaced) and my weekend car is a MKIV Supra: The Hachi was always in my mind since i watched the whole Initial D series and it never got out of my brain. 4 cylinders, high rpm´s, low weight and a damn hot sound (and in case of the Trueno the so lovely sleeper eyes...i LOVE them). On a wonderful summer day last year I was going for a little ride here through the city. I drove through a housing area...and couldn´t believe what I was seeing there: So i stopped and rang the bell. The owner was very polite, showed me the whole car and will MAYBE sell it, because he hardly drive´s it. He told me that he owned the car 1990. Unfortunately it has never seen a garage for 20 years, so it looks a little bit, uww, terrible But it has only 84 000 km on the clock and is a 1984 model. Here are some more pic´s: So what do you think about the car? Maybe the specialists here could help me a little bit and tell me something...maybe you see something in the engine bay what i don´t see (e.g. what needs to be replaced or sth. like this)....for my opinion the engine was dry as i could see it. Thanks alot for your help and I hope I´ll enjoy the time here in this forums. |

The paint needs some care of course...red is always susceptible.....and the car looks not that rusty as you may think, just some minor patches and the rear wheel arch on the right side, the rest seems to be okay. The car has to pass the "TüV" at the end of this month, i´ll be also there and have a look under the car....To be honest, i don´t expect a really good condition, but he´s never been driven it in winter time...it just stood in front of the house, the whole winter....so maybe the salt hasn´t done what it normally does to cars at this age.

Nice find!
The car appears to be one of the early cars, so I'd say it is definitely an early 1984 car. Interior doesn't look too bad: worn buckets are what the hachi is renowned for. It looks a bit half-Haselbeck trim: it does have the telephone rims and boot spoiler, but not the sideskirts and front lip. Perhaps a pre-Haselbeck trim? WTF is up with the stars? Are they stuck to the plexiglass cover or to the gauge cluster itself? 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |
