1 Dead front strut.
Well, I finally figured out where my shaky steering was coming from
The nearside techno pro spirit insert seems to be buggered - I can grab the piston and just shake it around. I am guessing they cannot be rebuilt very easily. Anyone have any ideas ? probably gonna have to replace them. Regards Ian. |

I´m just gonna answer this the best i can, if i misunderstood the question, just forget what i´m about to say.
Normally....Inserts into the front damber casings, are supposed to be loose. You do, though, need to fill up the chamber betweeen the insert and the housing with oil. This is done to optimize cooling, and don´t let anybody tell you different. So if what you´re saying is that you have taken your strut apart and found the insert loose inside, this is normal, and not to be altered, except with the oil i mentioned. Not taken it apart - if I hold the strut and grab the piston from the insert it wobbles around like hell - the other side does not. I thought it may be the lower ball joint that was gone but that seems ok.
On another note - just dropped a set of Mintex 1144 pads in the 4potters. Stopping power is very good and consistent. Regards Ian. |

Ok,
does anyone happen to know the length of an ae92 TRD insert ? - thats what I think I have right now. I am hearing that TOKICO HTS is probably the best way to go - I just need to figure out the insert length. Hopefully the strut casings have been cut down to the right length and its just a case of packing out the casing to take the new one. Anyone know how the TOKICO inserts compare to the Techno Toy Tuning AGX inserts compare ? Regards Ian. |

Ian.G Wrote:Ok, I installed stock KYB AE92 inserts - they are 40 mm shorter than stock AE86 ones. If you know difference between stock and TRD ones - voila ! |

TRD Japan now have a full english version of their parts list that can be searched
http://trdparts.jp/english/ Anyone know if TRD still produce the ae92 inserts (either adjustable or not) ? Regards Ian. |
