If I do get enough money from my SR5, I'm going to try to be fixing up my dad's old FB that's been sitting in the backyard for 15 years. It's sad too because it ran fine and only had 68,000 miles on it when it was parked.
![]() Now I'm going to need new interior (pretty much everything), new hood, some way to fix the rust around the taillights which has eaten through a lot already, new tires, alternator belt, battery, windshield and front windows, and tools. I have wrenches, a floor jack (but no floor - only dirt) and WD-40. And no experience. I'm probably going to end up paying someone to fix it for me, which will probably cost much more than my SR5 will ever sell for, especially with how it looks. Good thing I also have a '92 mercury sable and '96 Chrysler LHS to sell too. ![]() I know I probably won't ever get to drive anything faster than my mom's car, but I can try, right? lol... Well, If anyone knows of a place I could get some of the parts I mentioned for the FB I think I could figure out how to get most of them on... |

Well today I got a call from someone who really, really wanted to buy my car. But he also asked If I would mind trading cars. I, of course, was skeptical that he would have anything I'd be interested in.
I was wrong. He said he has an '82 RX-7 in good condition. "well kept" he said. ![]() What really suprises me is the guy didn't care it was a beat up SR-5 that needed a new mufler, ball joint, and a lot more HP than it has - he just wants an 86 ![]() So it looks like this project will be over pretty soon. I did finally get the front fender to stay on flush and still let the door open correctly today, so the car looks much better. lol |

Well the guy hasn't shown up or called again yet... but there are still a few things I'd like to fix on the car still.

Remove the bumper, straighten it and use polyurethane (urethane) and some steel plate + some bolts/rivets to reinforce the bumper.
Is this the hatch ? If you don't fix it soon - you will replace the hatch. Better remove glass and fix it before welding is involved. |

Well, the guy with the RX-7 hasn't called back... and I've decided I won't sell it unless I can get a trade of some kind, because I can't go back to borrowing the parent's car to go to work...
Well, the left balljoint needs replacing now, so I was wondering if anyone had a balljoint and/or control arm laying around... the mechanic said I'd need a new control arm anyway... also some bit 'o the steering I don't know the name of. The part where it connects to the hub area itself has a bent bolt or something.. it's hard to tell to me... the wheel rubs the back of the fender. I'll get some pics of that tomorrow after school. As well as my new shiny rims. I don't know that if I take the whole bumper off, that I can get it back on. Also, I don't have any steel plate or extra bolts or anyhting laying around. I have zipties and hot glue... and duct tape and spraypaint. If I bought JDM bumper, would I still have to go in and fix stuff? I fixed the lower lip where it was crushed towards the middle by taking out the two brackets on the bottom and straightening them with a mallet... but that's all I could really do - fix things that are already there. I need to save up my money for a balljoint atm... Also, I can't take the glass out of the hatch and expect it to stay in one piece, much less put it back in. So I might need to be looking for a good condition hatch soon as well. Unless I could sand through that one part and bondo around the glass w/out taking it out? I have a Dremel I could use to cut some stuff, but nothing to weld anything, unless a soldering iron would work.. lol I just need a GT-S parts car so I can swap out some goodies... like engine and rear end.... Oh! and does anyone have an SR-5 grille laying around? the big gaping hole in the front is the one thing keeping my car form looking good... |
