4agze is the better choice unless you intend to go dragracing with it. There is 1 3SGTE AE86 in the netherlands...it is really silly fast, but the swap is a lot more complicated to pull off and it will eat transmissions and axles a lot faster when you step on it.
The GZE is relatively easy to swap in...it's a 4AG after all so you dont need to modify the engine mounts etc. I also think it delivers plenty power to propel a light car like the ae86, and will have more controllable power delivery than a bigass turbo engine, also has better torque at the lower RPM regions. Ivan141 Wrote:...and will have more controllable power delivery than a bigass turbo engine, also has better torque at the lower RPM regions. I think you underestimate the drivability and low RPM torque of a stock 3SGTE. A stock 2.gen 3SGTE has peak torque of 304NM@3200rpm vs. a MAP 4AGZE's max torque of 206NM@4400rpm. It's two totally different animals. (now if you put on a huge turbo instead it's a different story, but to compare apples to apples..) However I totally agree that an 4AGZE would be an exellent match for the AE86. '85 AE86 4AGE, '94 SW20 3SGTE, '83 KP61, 72' RA21 |

Very offtopic:
I hate to say it but that VW isn't really jet powered. The Jet doesn't really power the wheels itself. It just thrusts the car. This is a proper jet powered car: http://www.aardvark.co.nz/pjet/chrysler.shtml It doesn't look good, but it is more effective that thrusting a car with a lot of air. Ontopic: The 3sgte topic by turborolla can be found here: http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic.php?t=1198 As you can see it was a lot of work to get it to work, but hearing from everyone the car is insanely fast I recon it is worth if you have the time and money available. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Okay I made a mistake saying the GZE has better lowdown torque...the ability to be able to control all that power in the old ae86 chassis is an important factor in choosing an engine.

Thats why I will mount canard wings in the front. They will give better handling when I go supersonic drift and give me mighty duck styling!
