4A-GE piston rings
Hi,
I bought new piston ring set and they are like photo1. My old rings are like these photo 2. Which ones are proper? Engine is blue top 1985 year. Can someone take a photo of orginal 4age piston rings?

I can't be sure...

BUT... is the top ring thinner/thicker?

earlier engines use 1.5mm thick rings for both compression rings, later types use 1.2mm thick top rings

Just because you have an early car does not mean someone hasn't already changed something.

Something wrong is with my account. I can't log in (or am I banned?) Nevermind. New set is 1.5x1.5x2.8 and I think they are OK. Pistons are bluetop hi comp (10:1? little dome at top). Top ring hole in the piston is wider than middle so I think 1.2x1.5x2.8 aren't for that pistons.

You are correct. 10 to 1 pistons use 1.5mm thick rings for both top and 2nd compression rings, the 1990+ high comp piston uses 1.2mm top ring with a 1.5mm 2nd ring
