4AGE 20v Extractors Primary Pipe Length
So I have run a few simulations and for various methods get different results on the length from 660mm to 890mm. I have a work head (can provide specs), and a rev limit around 9,000. Any real world experience on primary length out there? 4 into 1 design, 38mm OD pipe, nicely merged collector...

I would be surprised if you find anyone who can give you real world results. Too bad I dont have an engine dyno I would love to make an adjustable set of pipes and see how it works out. Now sorry to bug you but any chance of posting a pic of your collector? it's been a while since I saw something decent.

the shorter the pipe, the higher in the rpm scale it assists.

9000 rpm would mean a primary pipe length close to 660mm.

My engine builder recommended 38mm(1.5") primaries that are 710(28") long. Collector to be 60mm. My engine has peak power @ 8300rpm. I do NOT as yet know if it should be a tapered collector or some other type

Do you have a dyno chart handy to show the curve?

Why not a 4-2-1 design? It gives more torque and only slightly less peak power.

Project AE86 now begun.

Cars I have owned:
Toyota Starlet EP91 1,3 16v Turbo, 200hp
Toyota Starlet EP71 1,3 12v Sport
Mercedes 207D camper, 1977.
Toyota Starlet EP70 with a 174hp Silvertop 20v See video here:

Toyota Corolla AE101 with a 164hp Silvertop 20v. (Evolution bodykit and candycolor paint).
Volvo 240 2,1 (The only car I have maked money on).
Toyota Corolla EE90 (my first car)

agree with jimmy on this one. 4-2-1 design will give the engine more torque

Provide some specs. If you have only a worked head and no cam change of some sort then most is to be gained from the engine management which on a 20v is set to accumulate with the environment. Which sucks......

If you changed the camshafts, worked your intake and head then the exhaust gain is becoming a lot more interesting.

End pipe should be no more then 60mm. Larger and you will lose any pulsating effect the exhaust could benefit from. (good for NA engines)

On my tuned 4age 16v I used the standard exhaust manifold up to the 2-1 part. I cut it there to make the 55mm pipe work.

Seen one good exhaust manifold on a 20v and I believe Didier bought that red and black panda coupe. Ask him if he still has it. (was a standard silvertop with exhaust and management done and it was faster then a blacktop)

Cars:
"99 Lexus IS200
"86 AE86 Kouki Panda Levin GT-Apex (restore project)
"84 AE86 Zenki Blue Levin (project racer)
Motorcycles:
"02 Yamaha R1
"02 Honda Hornet S
"08 BMW R1200GS

Further tuning has smoothed out the powerband considerably... but I've not yet been back on the dyno to offer any proof of improvement
