4AGE piston oversize.
Who can tell me what the largest possible oversize is on either bluetop or redtop pistons OEM.
My 7AGE project has taken a turn, and the cylinder specialist has talked about doing a 1900cc displacement. But that would include the pistons to be apprx 82.5mm oversize. It is possible to get them fabricated, but i would love to go buy a OEM set instead of paying big bucks for aftermarket pistons. I have to check to be sure but now it seems like that I don't have to repair my engine. So (maybe) I have a set of Toyota genuine OEM - hicomp, smallport pistons with rings for sale, first oversize +0,5mm. 20mm pin diameter! Are you interested in? |

ZDoman...could you maybe PM me with a price for those pistons? I might be interested as well if the price is right.
@Peter.. the maximum amount of overbore is different for most A block variations, for example the 7-rib engine can take larger pistons than the 3-rib because the cilinder walls are thicker. BTW, the 7age is already a 1.8 liter right? You wont need huge pistons to gain some more displacement. Also you will have to throw the engineblock away if something goes wrong with the pistons(which is not impossible after rebuilds, when you're going to rev it high). FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

its not god idea to bore the block to its limit,
you destroy problably Nicasil if you have it. the block cant carry more stress from high compresion. and in the future as the zilinders holes are oval you have no chance to overbore it and put new bigger pistons. but thaths only my opinion, http://www.86ers.org All the hachies that Daytona can only dream about. |

I am using 82.00 mm in a 7 rib block. They are wiseco. If I remember they were about $650.00 Australian.

Thank you all for the inputs, i´ve decided to go with red-top 81.5mm pistons, bought from ZDoman....
Guess i´ll keep it 1760cc, i favour of rather large money saving. My evil Red/Black Panda http://www.bilgalleri.dk/html/gal_visbil.asp?ID=12832 My current JDM AE86 project http://www.bilgalleri.dk/html/gal_visbil.asp?ID=31609 |
