4AGTE For drifting
Hi Lars,
I have made a 4agte in my AE86,and i plan to use it only for drifting and trackday, The turbo i use is a standard Mitsubishi TD04-13G from a Impreza GT,as i have a few in stock, this is going to be run at 1,2bar,i don´t know what kind of HP it wil make, but on a Impreza at 1,2bar it will be around 260-270hp. I have not mapped the ECU yet, becorse the car is at a paintshop right now, But i can feel,(with the poor mapping done)that it will plenty of HP for drifting highspeed Regards, Skassa Any fool can go fast in a straight line. 4AGTE For drifting
im currently setting up my 86 for drift / road/ grip and im turbocharging. I did a lot of research and they are a lot of guys in aussi especially who use turbo 4ages(4agte) in 86 for drifting. Check out forums.totmods.org.au if u havent already. Dont waste money on the GT series turbo a t28 Ball bearing from a silvia will do just fine, or even a t25. these turbos have been proven to be very well matched on 4agte applications and spool quickly while getting good power(250whp range with good fuel tuning)
gze interanls can definately handle it. I would advise you to go management for best results. Have you heard/ read up on Meagsquirt n Spark? its a great standalone unit that u can assemble uself and has all the useful features of big money standalones at great price (280-300US for build unit, possibly less if u assemble one urself) it controls spark and fuel, just do a search and read up on it if u dont know about it. Its been used on 4age/4agte setups before. Also look into an upgraded fuel pump/ and some 440cc or so injectors(think its either 3sgte or 7mgte ones that fit in) alss look at upgrading drive train to handle extra pwoer and torque(this is where it gets a liittle expensive with extra cost) upgrade to a w series gearbox(w55,57,5 (theres a guy in aussi on toymods who sells custom bellhousing also a guyy in philipines), look at getting a larger rear end( guys in US use 1981 celica supra 7.5 rear end as it pretty much bolts up, hilux rear end also is an option but much heavier, or u could run a after market lsd in stock rear( might be pricyere that pulling a rear from car in scrap yard) I hope all this helped, I currently still collecting parts for my project,(as im revising whole car with restore and modification) once it gets a certain way will show make a topic in project section |

4AGTE For drifting
Do it you wont go wrong.
It is fantastic when the power starts to come in at about 2500-3000rpm and lights the tyres up. I have run my car turbo for about a year at drift events and only had problems once coming out of a tight 2nd gear corner with lag but that was probably just my weak driving. I'm only running a T25 and the power comes in real smooth no wack in the back of the seat when it comes on boost its pretty controlable. Jay |
