Best setup for drifting...
Ok... Ive been talking to RoboKill on msn lately and he helped me out a lot! He said - put the question on the forum.
I see/read a lot of topics but I am not a technical guy tho I try my best to understand and learn. The stories are mixed so my question to this lovely community who always seem to amaze me with their hospitality I ask : What is the best setup for an Levin Coupe to drift / daily drive... I know that my 4age is strong and I love it but I am saving up money and selling everything I have in life except my GF and wanna go for some more power... I know a 4agze is one of the best choices but the engine is pretty hard to come by and its pretty expensive too. For the 4age robokill said : other diff (2way kaaz) and other oil cooler and radiator... please fill in wherever you guys want. But what about turbo-setups / a silvertop + turbo for example. One says : NOOO GO for a blacktop - the other says : silvertop is better. What do you guys think is a good solid set up - and I would like to hear more than one... Again - thank you so much to help me out if you do. This will help for my purchase cuz I am pretty serious of doing something with my beloved baby! -DWG- Drift Wolf Gaming |

Best setup for drifting...
You have to decide how much power you want, and plan the best way
to achieve that goal. If you decide 250 hp is enough, 16V plus turbo is going to get you there. There are plenty of well-documented examples around on the interweb, that will tell you all you need to know. If your goal is higher, then 20V Silvertop plus turbo. Use some GZE pistons and an expensive custom-made inlet manifold. More still ? Build a 7AGTE full of expensive aftermarket parts. Then discover that your car is no longer driveable on the road, and you are having to upgrade your gearbox, axles, brakes, fuel system, cooling system etc., because you keep breaking things Start with a plan, and stick with it !! The temptation to go for more is strong, but you need the right foundation to build on. Once "phase one" is complete and driving, then you can consider going to the next level Cheers... jondee86 |

i think a good start to learn drifting is a 2way diff as you said, combine this with a 4.7 r&p
good suspension + chassis stiffning (bushings etc.) with some small 13/14 rear wheels you will have lots of fun '87 levin coupé |

The problem is that this:
Quote:What is the best setup for an Levin Coupe to drift / daily drive... Does not equal this: Quote:I know that my 4age is strong and I love it but I wanna go for some more power... So maybe go for thread number three where you further specify your needs. If you want to drift, search and read every of the 2004-2005 posts by member Zax. It is the single best documented history of a successful drift hachi. It has all the elements: night time drift gatherings on snowy deserted mountain tops, first time drift events on a track all the way up to European level drift events and multiple national successes. If you want to drift and daily drive your hachi, that is the way to do it. To get you started: http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic/driftday-...ight=#2513 http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic/ae86/t/39...sc/start=0 The Sljeme (mountain in Croatia) threads are just about legendary in my mind. If you want boost, then you ask people that have boost. In the Netherlands thats me and Ivan (CA18DET), Jasper(SR20DET), Daniel(GZE) and a dude with a 3S-GTE and probably someone I'm forgetting. Ask every one of them what it has cost them in total for the HP they have. I told you my costs, now ask Jasper (ghe ghe ghe) or Daniel (also on the forums sometimes). And if a 4A-GZE is too expensive and your answer to that is a turbo silvertop, then sorry sir, but that would make you an idiot. Mind you, I'm not calling you an idiot just yet, but you're working your way up there  A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Best setup for drifting...
Thanks everybody again for helping me out!!! really!
My car allready has: D2 Drift Coilover set with camberplates Cusco engine strutbar Swaybar(s) underneath the car Polyurethane bushings The chassis is 99% free of rust My goal is indeed to get around 250 hp - I really dont want more... (I miss my Subaru impreza 280bhp 99 wrx 25 stars edition hahaha) I just wanna have fun with the car but also give it the potential to race a bit with it on trackdays and drift also in competitions etc. Racing is pretty easy but drifting I still need to learn alot! So yeah I am thinking about keeping it either N/A and doing the driftspec with the diff etc. -or- my heart goes out to the 250 bhp set up... Every little bit of help is welcome. As a garage is discussing this with me - and I'd rather have it done properly and know about it - than nothing at all. Thanks -DWG- Drift Wolf Gaming |

Best setup for drifting...
Right okay well I dont mean to sound like a ignorant prick but... I have always loved drifting...
I myself am chronically ill and I dont want to sound like a pathetic 27 year old boi but I really really want to learn it because I love it sooo much. Tho I am also somebody who loves power. I am completely SET IN LIFE and promised my GF that I would learn drifting with a mate of mine from Canada on open track days etc. I know how to do it a little bit but I am very very protective of my AE baby. I dont wanna drift on the roads with or without pedestrians and other cars. I only do it in the snow when nobody is around me. (much easier too haha). Either way - this is my dream - this is my goal - this is WHAT I AM going to do! And I will not fail - and my trusty busty Levin Coupe is gonna get me there! Like I said - I got some cash - lets say a budget around 2.000 / 3.000 I wanna go 250bhp - How do I continue? And can I get a good set up for that money... I dont care much about the looks of my car - still rolling on stock west germany rims and the car still has 6 colours but I dont care about colour!!! I just wanna go and have fun with it but with a reliability factor of 90% or more! -DWG- Drift Wolf Gaming |

as you said in a previous post.. you want to keep it n/a...
good firm engine would be S2000 or 3sge BEAMS (in my opinion) but then you're budget is gone when you just bought the engine.. '87 levin coupé |
