Honestly, if I were you:
I would do the 4A-GZE. But you think it is too expensive and too little hp. Ok. Next best bang for buck is: 4A-GE 20V blacktop + profi install. 2000E if you beg? Then once you have money again: DIY exhaust (600e) Megasquirt (400e) Then once you have money again: TODA cams or whatever brand does something for the 20V. That should be north of 190hp and more or less a wet dream in terms of response and audio-porn. Only non-20V's i've seen over 190hp are the full Formula Atlantic type builds. What you save by starting with your stock 4AGE you will spend later on on headwork and pistons. Same hp as GZE, but 1000E more expensive. Money spent on tuning the bluetop I would spend on tracktime, tires and brake pads. Why do you reject the idea of spending money on tracktime? I have money in my sack and it is burning like crazy hahahaha I mean in my pocket... But I do want a 4AGZE - would be sick! But people always say to me TOO EXPENSIVE BLABLA and then eventually when you buy an engine like that I have no more money to let people put it in... Heck... if somebody on the forums in the Netherlands has a good 4agze and want to swap with me and put it in my car I would be happy. I either go and try something different if the 4agze cant be realised OR I go with what you say and use the 4age and maybe up the diff etc. So what you say is - putting some camshafts etc. in the 4age is a no-go or not good enough for some power aka a waste of money... No I dont want to piss you off I AM JUST THIS STUPID - I am trying to learn what I can - I want to spend some money on some improvements and have fun for the life I have left... How is the car at the moment ?
Does it really need 250hp to drift ? Is wheelspin what you need ? if so you need torque for that. To get more torque you need more displacement or a turbo or nitrous. Or you can fit a 4.778 final drive and use 13" wheels with your existing engine. An analogue brain in a digital World |

Just do a drift day, dont go practicing on public roads too much. Good way to lose your license. Dont forget that on driftdays you will make plenty of friends who can teach you stuff, and might prove valuable in your further pursuit of a drifting career Knowing the right people is worth so much more than badgering a forum with questions
Cheapest spot where you can drift while relatively safe from cops would be zandvoort paddock area, but the marshalls drive by regularly to tell you to fuck off (from my experience)They used to be more layed back. About the car: I had the opportunity to sit pax with chell in his yellow coupe at the paddock, and I can assure you that a stock ae86 with 13inch hand-me-down tires is more than up to the task of making me crap my pants. I would start there if I where you. Once you have impressed us all with vids of your skills, you yourself will know what is lacking to get better drifts. Usually people add power to be able to keep up on the high speed bits. These you will want to avoid as a novice anyway.. unless you dont feel to attached to your car. In short.. stop thinking, start driving, spend the money fixing all the things that will inevitabely start to break once you actually start drifting. Better this way than first spending all your money on mods, and then get all the nasty little surprises afterwards and not be able to pay for them. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Thank you Ivan tho that part about badgering questions on this forum is a bit harsh...
I myself am sick and dont come out too often... I am very overprotective n shit so forums are a good medium for me to try and make friends as well as getting info... I have had the pleasure to talk to patrick almost this complete day and he also just like you and all the other helped me alot! I am taking everything into my little brain and I will do what I can! So I will keep everybody posted... this thursday I will go to the garage to ask them what they think and then we will see what will come out of the plan - either way I NEED people to help me out - I cant do shit about my car myself... Hey okami , don't worry too much . Once you go to a few driftpractise days , you'll get the hang of it . You don't need alot of power to drift . Look up a member of here called 'bubble drift' and watch some of his vids . He owned a '86 (now patricks car) and he could definatly drift very good with and almost stock hachi.
And car wise you're alot further then me . You car is rustfree and you have a budget to spend on it . In my case it's the complete opposite , my '86 is really rusty and i'm basically broke . |
