5 or 6 brakelines?
Hello there,

I am preparing my new coilovers and therefore i was looking for new brakeline's. I am familiar with Goodridge and while looking and searching on the web I found 2 set's of brakeline's for my AE 86.

The first one is STY0451-5 (page 19) which contains 6 cables and the other set 21080 (page 16) and is containing 5 cables.

According to Goodridge the 6 cable version is for europe but i don't understand what the difference is?

From what I know, some kit's dont replace the clutch line, and some do.

hmm interesting..

You basically have 2 brake lines on either side on the front (so 4 in total on the front) as these are 2 piece parts, but I believe with most stainless they sell these as one piece parts so guess they only count for 2.

Then there are the 2 rear brake lines.

Then there is the brake line that goes from the middle of your axle to your body (the rest are all hard lines)

And there is the clutch line.

Most brake line kits only have the ones for the front and the rear.
Some brake line kits add the middle one on the axle
A few brake line kits also have the clutch line.

I'm with dAYTONA, the 5 brake line kit is probably without clutch line, the 6 is with. Get the 5 unless you're having problems with your clutch, waiste of money if you ask meBig Grin

i got six cables on my set of goodridge brakelines.
4 for the front brakes 2 for the back.
when you connect the 4 for the front it makes 2 complete cables.
Maybe thats not what they mean.
But there are 6 cables in the bag.

CIrcuitfreak, yeah but then the 5 cable one doesnt' make any sence.
but it is true, the front often is sold as 4 cables, 2x2. They connect at the strut.

ok,

I need the brakeline's for the front and for the rear, no clutchline. The 5-line kit would be logical to buy but what if there are four cables for the front and one for the clutch?!

http://www.biesheuvel.nl/shop/detail/8991

He offers the 5-line kit, i think i am gonna call him and ask just to be sure.

Thanks guys, great to get information like this!!

Thumbs up!

Bought that a year ago, but it came without cable and other acc.
Still need some stuff for it.
I'm building a driftcar and i thougt it would be beter than a cable handbrake + i thougt it was cool, but now i know that a hachi doesnt really need it.
But now i got it so i will conect it a.s.a.p.
