7AFE + 4AGE head + turbo ...Anyone ?
I've seen that people always change pistons and con rods when going to 7AGE conversion because of low CR.
But, what if going turbo ? stock 7AFE + 4AGE head and stock 4AGE intake + custom exhaust + turbo + some custom ECU + some injectors Sounds like easy 180-200 bhp. Can 7AFE bottom handle that kind of output ? What have i missed ? Thanks, regards |

Take a look in Australia...veeery popular setup there, though you usually see them with some kind of 20V head. HP output claimed is around double of what you are saying (300hp+) with no problem with the flimsy stock 7A conrods.
Then again ozzies might have a different understanding of what a problem is :-) A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Friend said that when going to 7AGE you need different pistons because with original you end up with low CR. Hm.. but it can be a good thing if going turbo .
Since i have really good experience with PGM-FI i have around 1000e in head for these 180+ hp. I see that problem can be transmission, especially gearbox, since this engine can easily push 250nm which is twice the stock 4AGE. Still worth considering, will try to find some links/experiences |

4AGE pistons fit the 7AFE conrods
(Finding high CR piston for 4AG is not realy a problem) |

I know a few making over 450WHP locally with the 20v head though.

Project D Wrote:4AGE pistons fit the 7AFE conrods I know that 4AGE pistons fit and make CR higher but i would prefer stock 7AFE pistons with lower CR when going turbo |

You'll have a hard time hitting 180hp with 1000e reliably, but its possible if you are willing to scavange parts on ebay.
Maybe 200 for a turbo, 100 for intercooler, 100 for piping, 75e for fuel pump, 150e for injectors, 300 for header, 300e for downpipe and exhaust etc. Cost of the block will be another 100e? Hmz thats already way over 1000e with cheapo prices. I think a swap to a turbo block would be cheaper (e.g. 3SGTE or CA18DET->cheap!) A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

I have a lot of parts at hand to try, including turbo, various intercoolers, injectors, fuel pump....and friends willing to help. Things needed to be done is exhaust header, piping... Different block = different mounts, transmission... Just need an opinions right now, this is just in idea stage at the moment. Thanks for help |

7AFE + 4AGE head + turbo ...Anyone ?
i had 7AFE turboed in my celica long time ago for around a year - running at 1bar of boost - making 209hp and 290nm - this engine had NO PROBLEMS with the boost what so ever! even with 0.7bar - it was running 160hp on 95 fuel!
If you gonna go with the 7AGTE - 200+ hp will be more then easy - cuz 7A head is restrictive and with 4A head you will have more flow. my 7AFTE was running totaly on stock internals and even with the stock headgasket - and it done 15K km - then i sold the turbo kit to another guy - who did with STOCK 7A around 20K without big problems... and all this was running on greddy Emanage - not even a normal Stand alone... heres the setup: Heres the Video 1.2.3 gears: And heres the 2 gear rolling start: With 1000e in your hands - i dont think you will be able to do a decent setup - but its a good start Ex-owner of JDM 83' Trueno Coupe DCw Classic, classic cars restoration, JDM wheels & parts import, sales. http://www.facebook.com/DogCustomWorks +37067170000 |

7AFE + 4AGE head + turbo ...Anyone ?
Can anyone confirm how differently the 7afe bottom end revs when compared to the 4age? I have read that due to the longer stroke its not as eager to rev as the 4age.
Also how fragile are the 7afe rods? Again I hear all sorts of reports that they are made from paper. Essentially just wondering if a 7age will be able to replicate the 4age for revability but adding some much needed torque to the mix? http://www.eight-six.co.uk - read the blog!
