Luckily, at the moment and for some time now, you only have a once-in-a-lifetime MOT check for oldtimers Hurray!. So if you present the car somewhat original at that stage, nobody is going to know if you fit a beams engine in it afterwards.

Other rims are allowed but I'm not sure if these would pass. They are 14" as my original ones but a little bit wider. Mine passed with the compomotives though Dodgy.
Good to hear the AE86 is now considered an oldtimer and doesn't need to be checked every year. Thumbs up!

@Banpei, ae86 has been oldtimer for years. Most mot problems are for the ones with normal plates (daily drivers).

Op's car looks great, hope to see it one day irl.

Ah right, so that's similar to the ones here in NL. If you have a "youngtimer" you have to comply to less rules here as well.

Exactly, I'm very glad for this since I've been able to make the car a lot safer and better handling. Not sure what my next update will be.

thanks for the kind words, guys!

And on may 1st 2017 oldtimer age is going to be 30 years. The government needs money.

Correct, the 30 year rule is a bit of a bummer for the guys driving R32's, MX-5's,... Some of them will have to wait a lot longer. Initialy I was planning on getting an R32 but it's a good thing I didn't Wink.

If it comes up to a point where we'd need to have an MOT every 3 years I think prices are gonna nosedive and a lot of cars will be exported. Lots of people here are running different setups, engines,...
