AE86 + CA18DET
ca18det into ae86 seems to be the latest trend in australia. the second pic you posted is the car of a toymods.com.au member. i recently read something about his car there.

looks like an "easy" conversion. at least engine and gearbox will fit caus they are small enough.

...thers an crazy vid of this car on toymods as well. doing drifts like you do on mobykrog but only way faster with lots of smoke out of the rear wheelhousings Thumbs up!

2 mot-racing: take a note that all Australian AE86 are SR5, with 4AC engines and solid front brake disks ! Strange Toyota import decision - I think. Anyways - this is the reason for some wild engine swaps in Australia :-)

Found this video yesterday.
http://www.dorift.com/movies/Simon_Drift_Promo.wmv

It's Simon from Australia with his CA18DET swap in AE86, so i sent him the mail.
This is the reply.
Quote:hey mate

i dont know of any websites or forums that acctually show it in detail.. i
didnt have any great difficultyies in acctually doing the conversion on my
own. i used ae86 crossmember with welded on mounts from an RB20, then CA
rubber mounts. i custom made a tailshaft and gearbox crossmember also.
pretty easy stuff. then the wiring there only need to be 4 wires hook into
the sprinter loom ..

Simon

Really nice bloke, 4 wires are i suppose the key ignition.
