Yesterday, I made a short visit to the fabricators to have a look at a few extra modifications that I had requested and talk about the way forward for the car. These last few additions just about wrap up the stiffening and cage modifications and here are the results.....

No need for a bolt on strut brace anymore Wink

I think it should be stiff enough now ?

Next up.. I wanted a straight bar across the cage behind the seats for the harnesses to wrap around (correct method) rather than using floor anchors. A small brace has also been added between the equal length link boxes in the floor to help stop the the boxes from flexing under hard load.

Further to that, I also got a pair of bars added from the bottom of the main hoop on each side to the bottom of the rear diagonals. These can can be seen in this picture.

And last but not least, a view from the rear of the car with the proposed position of the fuel cell.

Next up, the servo hole and clutch master cylinder hole gets welded up, the fuse box bracket gets removed, the engine / box gets installed and "the front end gets cut away" lol

More nice looking Progress, Conrad! Thumbs up!

Just wondering - what if say you need to remove the head someday, or exhaust manifold. Could that welded on bracing cause the need to move the engine forward to access? Then again you don't have a bar going across the turrets like most people do, so maybe OK.. (You don't need one with that much strenghtening!!)

Cool.. 3S-GE power + + !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Evil Evil

Miguel, there is plenty of room to still get the head off if needs be.

Wait until you see the new front end.. I think I have lost the plot lol

A question I always wanted to ask. Is having a petrol tank that high up, compared to where it normally sits gonna affect the centre of gravity much? I guess you've got a lot of extra metalwork going on up high anyway, but it's something, or a principal that's always interested me...

Car's looking good man! Smile

The fuel cell is not actually mounted in that picture, the picture is just to show that it will be centrally mounted width ways across the car. It will however, be under the floor to keep the centre of gravity lower. Battery will be mounted to the left of the fuel cell, N2 bottle to the right to get the weight distribution even. Big Grin
