AE86 Intake installation.
On removal of the standard airbox on my '86 there is a vacuum pipe and sensor.

Can anyone advise on what they have done with these when installing their intake.

Looks like it is routed through the "idle up" valve.... not a bad idea take the air from the clean stream.... Which CAI do you have? The US models with the rubber hose has a fitting tapped into the hose... I believe the Injen filter kit has a fitting also(not sure of that....)

When i install my induction kit, how would i take air from the clean stream?
Forgive me, what is CAI?

It's the idle up VSV for the aircon. You can just remove it but the car won't idle properly when the aircon is on. If yYou can always just plumb the pipe into your new intake.

Is this a Jap import? I didn't think the UK cars had aircon.

I know it's an idle-up valve, but it's not specifically for the aircon. Every MAP AE86 I've seen around here has that bit.

it is often used for the alt when it is under a severe load.

On US (AFM) models.... the main air hose between the afm and the throttle body) has a fitting in it to pick up extra air(filtered from the main filter) My recommendation... once you know the Cold air intake you plan on...(or fabricate) make sure there is a vacuum fitting... or think about adding one. You could also tap it to open air as long as you filtered it... and interestingly enough K&N has a breather filter which would likely do what you wanted.....
