AE86 Rear Axle

I have now changed the pinion and ring in my rear axle.

BUT, when I did a test drive it sounds very bad, and I guess I have to adjust the pinion/ring to match (line up).

My question is: How hard do I pull the nut that holds the pinion?


The nut is for the "rear drive pinion": 41204B

Did you get someone to set it up for you?

This is not just a matter of pulling it apart and put the new crown wheel and pinion in!

Its quiet difficult, and requires special tools etc...

Well that kinda depends on wether you have a crush sleeve or a solid one. Have you set the pinion depth and the backlash correctly?

Thanks, and Yes you are right. I discovered that I have no clue how to do this.

I just put the new pinion och ring in and assembled it all back together.

I have to leave this to someone who can measure it and set it right.

BTW when I tried to remove the bearing (again) from the pinion I cracked 2 showels on the pinion slightly like 4 mm , will this be a problem?

i think you have already make some damake if you did not adjust the when assembly
