Once more with the bay...[Image: AEU86 AE86 - AE86 booter][Image: AEU86 AE86 - AE86 booter]

This one troubled me... AC holes; mainly because my heater control unit has an AC switch, however sourcing correct oem AC pump, pipes, filter-drier and rad would be both difficult as well as unnecessary in this countrys climate...

I finally got around to reattaching the captive nut on the end of the front chassis leg..... I had previously tried cutting a diagonal across the hole and tacking from the outside, but it didn't last..

... and here it is, closed up again:

Now for some bling:

....I know there's better ways I could have spent my time, but I'll soon be spraying the bay, so need to decide on the colour

Finally, detached the jig, it served it's purpose well, but it's gonna be in the way so out it went. Must give it a lick of paint

After about 12hours + curing under ir light, it looks like this:[Image: AEU86 AE86 - AE86 booter]

Any normal person would be happy with that and just and colour coat, but no, not me

SMH

Seams stitch welded, and filled with fibreglass mastic. Then lightweight filler to smooth it all out, then sealed again before colouring.... Hard work, but hopefully it'll be worth it[Image: AEU86 AE86 - AE86 booter][Image: AEU86 AE86 - AE86 booter]

You have an enviable work pace. Luckily I'm not much for the smooth and shiny engine bays or I'd never get the car done.

Thanks Ivan, it's admittedly hard to summon the enthusiasm sometimes, but once I get the front end sealed & painted I think I'll take a break for a week or two lol[Image: AEU86 AE86 - AE86 booter]

I decided to just fit one section along the top of the radiator, rather than cutting and welding the three (or four) divits between the radiator brackets. That way, hopefully, there's less chance of ripples/heat distortion... But we shall see[Image: AEU86 AE86 - AE86 booter][Image: AEU86 AE86 - AE86 booter]

Soon, I'm going to have to tackle these. I don't know how it comes across in the pics, but the chassis rail extensions are badly crushed. Any ideas on how to proceed?[Image: AEU86 AE86 - AE86 booter][Image: AEU86 AE86 - AE86 booter]
