AE86 in Croatia
ah, ok.
I thought (by looking at the head) that it wasn't an redtop, but i've never seen a redtop before (because they never been in an AE86/AE82/AE92 here in NL). "It's all about the heart, the people who focus on parts, turbo's and all that stuff...they're just losers." -Shinji Minowa |

Yes we did have redtops here...just not a lot since they only came in late model AE92 gti's. You cant tell just by looking at the head in a picture...not when it's painted.

Here are some pics of ae92 red top aka. hi-compresion/no tvis/small ports.
Notice there is no tvis sign on the intake manifold. Drifting - best fun you can have in your car with your pants on! |

If you mean this one: That's not a redtop, it's just an 120 bhp version. The only one which should be a redtop is this one: The big difference is the plastic plate above the sparkplugs (that's were i looked for in the picture from Jeroen's Coupe). At least, this is what i've been told by some Toyota authorities, don't pin me on this. 2 doctor: plastic cover over the spark plugs is just that, plastic that can be changed.
Big difference in red port engine is a) big port TVIS variant b) small port no TVIS. http://home.clear.net.nz/pages/phil.brad...%20RWD.htm So if you look at Induction & Head, there is only one small port no tvis 7 rib, all others are ITB or Big port + tvis. Another thing is that i have no AFM, but MAP sensor. So everthing comes in place. No mater the spark plugs cover. Another thing, don't look the colour of cam covers, on the second picture somebody was playing with colors "TOYOTA 1600" letters always come in black paint, only "Twin Cam 16 Valve" letters change colours (black + blue, black + red, only red). AE86 in Croatia
Hey guys! Amazingly after searching the web inside out i find this forum! I didn't even know it existed. How new is it?
Anyways, ZaX; holly shit you have like 10-15 86s in crotia, while here in Slovenia we only have one (Dreja's ride - hi man! =)) Curently im driving a 91' EF civic 1.6 16v, which is a great car, but hopefully that will change soon. Im desperately in search for an ae86 (now probably a year or so). ZaX, do you know if anybody down there might be willing to sell a hachiroku? Arigato! |
