AVO/MCNSPORT AE86 Suspension
So was wondering if anyone actually bought a pair of these rear coilovers and what they are like. I kind of need to know how low I can go and still be captive. Also, has anyone had any problems with them like the strut puncing through or splitting the steel around the top mount.

in a word, awesome.

i have the 5kg one and it perfectly suits the car. no problems so far after several months and continous punishment on philippine roads. my favorite rear coilover (i've tried 3) by far. and it goes pretty low with room for crazy lowness

not to mention great delivery service! i live in the PI and its the fastest overseas order i ever recieved(under 4 weeks)!...from Ireland!!! Thumbs up!

the front shocks are short stroke, so the housings need to be shortenend?
How do they cope with a heavier car? (read: will the manage on my 1300kg Chaser with straight 6 under the bonnet Big Grin)

Any chance you could post some pics. Would the springs still be captive when really low ie; at the moment my chassis rails are 55mm or so off the road, when the car is jacked up?

do you mean will they bottom out? i have about a little more than 1/2" left of lowering it to max, and at this level on rough PI roads, i havent had any issues even at its softest setting.

Wow. Nice hachi man. Looks like you can go plenty low with those. What i meant was if you jack up the car, can you move the springs up and down with your hand / are they loose. In NZ the spring cant be loose when the car is jacked up and it won't pass a WOF.

It depends on the ride height you settle on. If you slam it completely, they might become loose. Even with short stroke shocks.
For the WOF just temporarily move the spring perches upward untill the spring is captive again with the car jacked up.

Most short stroke setups still have about 15-20cm of travel (what you need as a minimum for effective shock travel when racing). Most "slammed" cars, or drifters tend to use less then 2-4cm of bump travel, so you end up with 12cm of rebound (or more). This is too long for most coiloversprings.
You could try and order longer springs, but they will limit the amount of slammage you can achieve. Best solution is still to just jack the perches up for a test.
