I've only experienced a broken waterpump once on my 2T and it was the bearing that went away as well. The pump driveshaft didn't break, but it was the multi-belt that was old and snapped. But from what I understood from your video is that the Volvo D5 has a single belt driving everything...

Yeah man, the pump is run from the main belt and the other stuff is off the aux belt. We'll see how it all goes as i got a spare engine for £200 off a friend with all the ancillaries, turbo, xc90 awd gearbox, brand new clutch etc . Took the spare head to the machine shop for the disassembly, wash and skim, so should have it back by tuesday next week and i'll just chuck it all back on and hope for the best
