Do you have any idea what you are going to pay for the customs + RDW check + plates? My calculations for import were about 777 euros, so I'm curious about the costs.

Banpei, that sounds like alot man, remember poland is from EU so only BTW to pay, no import tax.. Still that and the RDW check will still cost you a couple of hundred.

Not BTW, BPM. You are obliged to pay BPM, eventhough you are excused to pay BTW. BPM is not as high as BTW, but still a lot of money.

The costs aren't so high. RDW costs about 180 euro but the bpm could get to arround 355 euro. But if you buy a restoration object you could consider to get a price from a 'appraiser'. I don't know the exact word for 'taxateur'. And sure a old corolla with some work on it has got a cheaper price then the dutch tax-office calculates. So I hope the bpm will be around 100 euro.
And then ofcourse the license plates.

Make a calculation for yourself:

Get the catalog price (ae86 = 16788euro) of the car.

Caluculate BPM costs.

Go to an european country (this is the easy way).
Get the original registrion papers (kentekenbewijs) + buyers paper.

Call RDW for a check, costs 135 euro and 45 for (verwijderingsbijdrage/trash tax....dunno)

After you get a positive rdw check you can decide:
call a cheap oldimer 'taxateur', costs around 70-80 euro and manage with him a lower price then the tax-man (restoration is expensive).

Or if the car is in a very healthy condition (excelent) you pay at the rdw office the 355 euro. It's on you.

So it's actually a bit cheaper than I calculated before... Then importing might be more attractive than before.

Looking at the pics I don't think having it taxed would do any good. I've taxed a car of mine before and they rate unique cars pretty high so no gain for BPM, but a good gain for insurance.

Taxing can make a change. I contacted an person and he will tax the car on restoration base. (schademannetje). Later he will come back after finishing such a project to tax the car again.
But don't tax to low, otherwise the tax-man will arange a second opinion.

one's u got it all settled i would also like to know how mutch time it took to make it street legal (with all the paper work and the procedures).

i've been thinking about import aswell but my dad (former costems agent "douane") is telling me that its gonne b hard to get it aproved to get it street legal, different rules about the headlight tires brakes windows from other countries, these parts need to be acceptable for the dutch rules.
most of the "old" cars need to be rebuild b4 they will b accepted

As far as I understood that as long as the cartype was accepted you didn't need to go through the extensive check.
