you need to clear all the surface rust and protect it so that the body will be safe :-D
Take some pics from the underside. Like to see how he fixed it Cars: "99 Lexus IS200 "86 AE86 Kouki Panda Levin GT-Apex (restore project) "84 AE86 Zenki Blue Levin (project racer) Motorcycles: "02 Yamaha R1 "02 Honda Hornet S "08 BMW R1200GS |

And some more rust disappeared:
But now I need some advise. Bert started on the wheel arches and we found alot of old damage there, badly repaired. Much putty was used but also a big amount of zinc. I really don't like these kind of repairs and I'm thinking about options. Lennert told me about the Ford Escort fenders and that seems the best thing to do. Anyone else has suggestions perhaps? Some pics, other side is bad also: Rust inside is not so bad, lucky there. |

I say ford arches best to go by. think the front wings are a bit wider than standard ae86 on the back but will look nice i think
As you can see the front has a bumper mount like the hachi in the rear. So: left front wing is like the right rear hachi fender Cars: "99 Lexus IS200 "86 AE86 Kouki Panda Levin GT-Apex (restore project) "84 AE86 Zenki Blue Levin (project racer) Motorcycles: "02 Yamaha R1 "02 Honda Hornet S "08 BMW R1200GS |

Aram,
When the time comes for Bert to weld the underneath of your car, we could split the cost of letting him fabricate a rotisserie so he can work on the underside without rolling the car on it's side. Mine also has some work underneath the trunk and I know I could use a rotisserie later on for seamwelding and cleaning of old undercoating (as might many others). FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

cannabolic Wrote:seam welding or spot welding? No idea, you tell me! nægterdu Wrote:use arches from starlet ep70 Also an idea, I'll see what I can get, I prefer to get the original shape though. Work on the car will be suspended next week, first we have to remove the engine so the car can go on it's side to work on the bottom. And I have to find suitable rear fenders. Bert will have finished the rest of the metalwork on the car this week. |
