Ok, had a lot of delay here.
I ordered parts which were late or wrong. And I was busy with other stuff. Anyway, have done a few things though. Made a start with the bucket seat, but I had no idea it was going to be such a pita!! The ae86 is not really made for one I must conclude. I tried to make it work with a slide but it was way to high. Started out with reworking the Impreza frame, so I took it apart: But it was still too high in the end, so I ditched those. Then I cut off the side frames on the chair a bit and constructed a new frame for them: Welded and sandblasted: Had to remove some material from the side frame: Now it's fixed, but the height of the chair is now as high as the stadard chair... And this is just one side! Pffft... |

Had some plates lasered for the front subframe, I have lowered the subframe 5mm only, the engine mount plates are 5mm also.
Now the engine has the perfect height I think: Then another big job, the gearbox subframe. I want it to look as something that came out of the factory in end, so I did it the hard way. I started with cutting up the original frame and reworking the parts I needed: Welded: And this for both sides. After that the middle part was to be made, so I started with a cardboard template: Then the real thing: And welded that up too: Now only the 4 corner parts need to be filled up. |

So, Tuesday I was really happy because for the first time the engine and gearbox were hanging in their own frames for the first time.
....Unitl I looked at the next step, the steering rack. When I was test fitting it all fitted nicely, but meanwhile I had moved the engine back 8mm and it was sitting a bit lower and tilted aswell. Never stopped to see what it did for the rack. So now the oilpan was in the way, more specificly, a bolt of the oilpan. To make matters more complicated I noticed the MR2 steering rack was actually 20mm's longer than the AE86 one, so the quiafe quick rack was to short also, that is why I the steering angle looked off to the left. Luckily I noticed in time, and luckily it needed moving the steering rack, which gave me 10mm more room with engine. So I decided the relocate the rack mount on the subframe and rework the bolt on the oilpan. Now it fits! And I can start removing the webbing for the rack to fit properly under the engine. Then some new parts: A longer stabi, have not testfitted it yet: A new feultank lid without a lock: New feul pump holder: |

Great job mate.
A quick question for you. When you have lowered your Beams by 5mm, do you still need to modify the tunnel to fit the gear box. I believe you are using the 6s box. Thks, |

Yes I am using the 6 sp, and the only modification to the tunnel is making a hole for the gear lever.
