Aussie ae86 rally car
ok, sorry i forgot about this thread, the car took a turn for the worst. A few days after the picture i posted above, (which you can see, doesnt have any seats in it!) I competed in the biggest event of the year, a national round. I was winning my class for two stages, by the end of the second test, it had kept jumping out of gear. With a big 'Fuck it' attitude at the time, I kept driving it... 30km back to service after that stage (which was about 27kn itself) i could smell smoke, i asked my nav if he could, he said "bushfire i reckon" i told him this bushfire was following us...stopped on the side of the rd...the whole gbox had dropped its oil out of the shifter pressure detents/stoppers (no idea what they are called, but the things at the very top and rear of the box, spring loaded and apply pressure when you got left or right with the stick) Even being that high up, it had starved the box, got the car going again, got down a big hill, bumped it into neutral, and the car stalled with a huge painful noise...A near new trd gbox had quite literally melted together, 4th gear, 5th, 3rd, 2nd all ruined..even the housing was a throw away SO, after kicking the door in on the side of the transport stage, i had to miss out on the next rally because the car had no real gearbox in it, and had the save the obscene amount for another flash gearset.... navigator lost interest by that stage, and what i said earlier; mc68 Wrote:forest rally april 3-4...my gf is going to hate me, and i will need shares in redbull. the gf did dump me a few days before this event, so i was VERY pissed off a vid from that event (4.44 in) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8JYaDHcVFk so, a couple of months went by till i could have enough money to compete again, in the meantime i did khana crosses with a very old and tired standard gbox Brake with the left hand, steer with the right foot... |

when i saved up the money for an all new albins gbox
and some spotlights we went rallying again... driving like a bloody girl, came 4th in clubman, backoff very early, very hesitant on the throttle...wasnt happy with myself.. a vid from me in that rally.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__1CQtuy_8s never happy with a perfectly running car...i decided it wasnt handling to my liking...So we rose jointed the control arms, 3.5 degrees of camber, 7 degrees of castor... mirror tint new trip metre mount i made went for abit of a play with the car... No rear sway bar, stiffened the front shocks, very stiff front sway bar...huge, huge Difference, the car is completely new, and it squats so hard now ...but the trd solid rubber tops didnt like being twisted so much.. see by the plates why the car is called jumbo dan? Brake with the left hand, steer with the right foot... |
