Are you aware you built your car backwards? The steering wheel is on the wrong side...
Wow, I could have sworn I had an account here... I guess I'm the new guy |

Thats Crazy!!! I never have the patience to do that.
First rally of the 2010 season was on saturday. I won clubman by 1 min 17 came 5th 2wd in the state overall. Not without its drama's though, New throttles and head work worked amazing for one stage, then it either backfired through the intake or sucked the filter socks in, because I was losing filters the more i drove...ran very lean, i think its melted valves...ohwell, i still won in a very under-powered car New brakes, new changes to the pinion angle helped alot! (check out the squat under accel it has!) never lift! Brake with the left hand, steer with the right foot... |

Congratulations on your win! Sorry to hear about the engine giving in.
Your not the first to have the engine suck the filter socks in. Im no expert, but I'd take a big airbox with the biggest OEM paper filter you can cram in anyday above those socks. You'll loose most of the lovely engine note, but as you are using your car for actual performance driving I doubt that has much priority for you. Paper filters actually flow very nicely, filter better than most performance stuff etc etc.. cheaper to replace too. What pinion angle are you running? (and do you reference it to the gearbox angle or is it just plain angle vs horizontal?) FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

yep, open throttles sounded incredible...but im making a plenum up and going back to my 3" air filter concealed in a box behind the headlight.
Pinion angle is about 4 degrees to the horizontal. I actually raised the rear (was very low before) by putting stock springs back in. raised the front by 10mm..It was alot of measuring and using angle gauges on the wheel aligner...but it was mostly guess work Brake with the left hand, steer with the right foot... |

Congrats on the win!!
You think you can win more rallies when the car stays in one piece or was this particular rally so well suited for your car? |
