Banpeis project
While waiting for the guy from the phonecompany I worked on a few small things on my hachi. First of all I wanted to mount the yellow foglights I bought some time ago, but my old foglights wouldn't come off and when I tried to install them on top of my lip instead I broke a bolt which holds my lip, so that was a no-go. So I'll probably have to drill a hole through the ugly US bumper so I'll postpone it to next week.
Then I started cleaning up the taillights just as Djexor and Oldskull did: with triple-A quality printing paper. It is only about the orange indicator which became plain, so the red parts were shiney before. Results are excellent and the orange parts became shiney again. Unfortunately I found out that my right taillight is oxidated due to the leakage I suffered from last year: the right taillight was filled with water when I replaced the seals. So, anyone got a spare right taillight? And finally I also received my blue dashvents last week and started to clean them up (not clean on the pictures) and I'll probably start replacing my dash next weekend. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

banpei: just use some very fine sanding paper and sand the oxidation off..then polish them back up with commandant or something similar. We did this to NoHachi's lights and they come out OK..

Tried to do that last time but was afraid I would break it, so I ended up trying to dry them and seal them with silicone kit. Apparently it did its job and kept the water inside. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

I thought they were oxidised from the outside...no need to open them.

No, it is the inside.
But I just bought Senna's taillights, so its not a problem anymore. Also bought his Trueno fender, so I can fix up either that fender or my own fender this way. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Thanks!
It looks like the parts I bought from you over half a year ago will finally be placed. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |
