Building a 4AGE Turbo for the first time
Yes I really like the Mega Squirt products, my friend has it turning on his fans and all kinds of things, its truley amazing.
So the MK1 supra rear end is the way to go and the MK3 Tranny (W51) for the transmission? |

Wouldn't go for the MK2 supra: it doesn't have a live-axle, so you will lose a lot of power doing dragracing. On the otherhand it will withstand a lot more.

I must correct you. If its Denmarks (Skassa) car you are talking about, it was a turboed GZE with a Supra mk2 gearbox. It had about 260 hp but it was quick as hell! SekiguchiUeno Your link is to a guy who build some motorparts for a different car than Denmarks (Skassa). Last i heard from that side, it had 450 hp and a sequential (?) gearbox. So all in all, two completly different Hachis. The only thing they had in common was the colour. Youtube Myspace and I´ll Google your Yahoo |

Building a 4AGE Turbo for the first time
hmm, I'm still thinking about all of this. It wouldnt be so bad to have 200whp, I'm pretty sure I can get that with 7-9PSI. The MegaSquirt standalone is a must to me now, its what makes the entire set up worth it. I'll find out how the tranny and rear end holds up to the abuse. I will start off with the stock engine for learning and will replace it with a 4agze when it blows up, save money on buying an engine intially and learning experience. I'm hoping for a intial cost of 2,000-2500 dollars for the basic turbo build up, maybe less if I find cheaper parts.

IMHO you will break your tranny before the engine (I presume that you will be wise and will set rev limiter ~7000RPM for turbo engine) even with bluetop internals.

I wouldn't even bother for that amount of money..Email toycoolrolla, he has an original 4A-GTE for sale..Dunno about the hp, but it was around 2500-3000 US$ with a W-series tranny+adapter bellhousing...
If I was shooting for this amount of power, I would be all over this setup. Besides the pleasure of owning a piece of toyota history. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Building a 4AGE Turbo for the first time
Yes this used to be mine, i build it up from the bottum,as it was all rusted away. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v41/De...ed%20AE86/
It had at first 260hp/7200 rpm and 315nm/4050rpm,this was a standard late GZE shortblock, with a bluetop bigport head, with 256degrees Schrick cams, using a 2mm headgasket,it was running a Impreza OE turbo, TD04-13G from a 2002 WRX,and a 1.0bar this is the hp it made, it was later upped to 1,3bar,then upgraded to a Impreza STI IHI vf29 turbo, running 1.5 bar,but this turbo blow from running that high pressure at 8k rpm,now it was really getting quick. I sold the car,but that was before that the IHI turbo blow, and i´m quite sure that it was running around 330-340hp at the moment, I have now upgraded the turbo again, for the new owner, a TD05-big16G,running 1,4bar,the car has not been on a dyno since it was at 260hp, but i think it´s now around 350 HP, I weldded a 4age clutch house on a Mrk3 Supra 3.0 NA gearbox, and had the propshaft shortended to make it fit. This was all on the OE rearaksel, but it now seems like there is so much power, that the pinionwheel is just stripped, every time the car is going WOT in 4th or 5th gear. So Hilux rearaksel here it come last time i changed the turbo,i just had a quick spin with the G-tech,and i made a 4.65sec to 100km/t and a 12.2@196km/t on the 1/4mile,this was all on 195/50-15 streettyres, with lots of wheelspin,so can be made faster with better tires. This tells me that it got serius power,as when i made the 400hp Impreza,i only made a trapspeed at around 188km/T Regards, Skassa Any fool can go fast in a straight line.
