CUSTOM REAR COILOVERS *pics*
Is this even a good idea? he basically from what i can tell welded the bottom of rear shock on to a shortened front strut and used front inserts and a sleeve coil over to make up rears so that means he has front and rear inserts/ What do u guys think of this good custom idea or bad? I mean is front shock vlaved for extra weight of engine( then again agx that we use are for another car) Waht say you guys?

Nice idea. Valving is different, but how different? There is little info on the dyno's so you're only guessing. If you got adjustable shocks then you shouldn't worry

i like the idea, i might have to copy that. the front shocks might be valved for more weight, but the 86 is pretty close to 50:50. so i dont see a problem. because that rear end is almost as heavy as the engine.

The rear end is 1/2 of engine weight (I worked on my rear end yesterday).
The ideia is good, but I prefer to avoid welding on suspension parts - as possible. In Club4AG I see some rear coilover setups with the original coil setup (not over struts) - and I liked them more. |

There is a weak point on the rear axle, where the shock bolts to. Some people reinforce it, some run without reinforement... thats up to you.
I dont think I'll be using rear coilovers, the rear springs are so easy to swap, that I do not think coilover is necessary. Once you've found the right height, its a setting you'll never change again anyway... |
