Car cranks but will not fire up
Listening to the video, apart from the battery sounding rather tired,
I did not hear any kind of pop or bang or sound that might indicate that
the plugs are actually firing ?

Have you checked for spark with a plug out of engine and grounded
against a metal part of the engine? Easier to see in the dark rather than
bright sunlight.

Cheers... jondee86

I must point out that these are not stock camshafts

They are these http://www.catcams.co.uk/acatalog/7105137.pdf

Plus my cam gears are adjustables made by Blox but have the same degree of adjustablility just as the tomei cam gears.

Do you set up aftermarket cams like stock ones?

You must have adjustable cam timing gears....

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Car cranks but will not fire up]

And then you must work with the timing in order to detect the new TDC of the camshafts you have now.... That catcams document has some angles, and you need to work with them.... I don't know. Can't help....

But search the web! You have lot's of info! Or wait for someone here.... jondee has the knowledge.... Respect!

Most manufacturers will place the knock pins in their cams such that if
you put them in with the factory non-adjustable cam wheels, the timing
will be pretty close to their recommendations. In this case, 110/110.
Likewise, the Blox cam wheels should have a zero marking, and when
set at the zero marking, the Blox wheel should match the stock wheel.

Therefore, if you set the Blox wheels to zero and put the knock pins in
the same place as usual, the cam timing will be close enough to allow
the engine to start. Put the engine at TDC on #1 cylinder compression
stroke, crank pulley at zero timing mark, intake knock pin at 12 o'clock
and exhaust knock pin at 5 o'clock.

If the Blox pulleys do not have a dimple on the rim like the stock pulleys,
place a stock pulley exactly on top of the Blox pulley and line up the
holes/slots for the knock pins. Mark the correct tooth on the Blox pulley.
Now you can use the mark on the backplate for positioning the pulleys Smile

There are other ways of setting the cams up, involving a DTI and degree
wheel and a lot of arithmetic. You don't need that at this stage. Good luck.

PS: One quick check to make sure you have the cam settings in the right
ballpark, is to look at the position of the lobes. Set #1 cylinder to TDC on
the compression stroke, and observe the cam lobes for that cylinder. The
intake lobes should be pointing to the left, and the exhaust lobes should
be pointing to the right.

Its setup like you have described except it's half a tooth out for some reason.

Other than that, it won't fire up.

The car is running! The camshaft timing was spot on.

The crank pulley is 5 degrees out due to 1/2 a tooth being out.

It's running due to an ignition issue on the dizzy, it sounds like its running on 3 but its a start!!
