Oh yes and thanks for the comments!
My brother owns the two tone GTS coupe next to my SR5. We each own an 86 I am not sure if any of you are interested but here is the stable of cars in my house: 1988 Corolla GTS & 1986 MR2 (My brother owns the AE92 and my dad owns the AW11) 1985 Corolla GTS hatch (My dads) 1985 Corolla GTS coupe (My brothers) I used to own another SR5, 2 S13's and I used to own the AE92 but I sold it to my brother. Here some pics: Sorry about the hard parking at my house hahaha! Spending $2000 to make a really slow car just slow. |

If you still have some money left, get yourself one of those electric sprayguns (wagner) and spraypaint your car with thinned rustoleum.
I've gone the rollerpaint/wetsand route with my trackday car and it was a pain in the butt and never came out right. Now you might be more talented at it, or just not care about a perfect result (god knows I didnt), but having become quite good at spraypainting things very neatly, I just feel dissapointed each time I look at my trackcar. Yeah It is a pain in the ass. The damn paint bubbles are kicking my ass. I overlap within every stroke as well.
I actually have a wagner spray gun but the only problem is routing the compressor and setting up a tent in my backyard. Thanks Spending $2000 to make a really slow car just slow. |

Wagner makes electric sprayguns too, so no need for a compressor afaik.. about the tent, everything but the body itself is pretty easy to shield off, might be worth the effort to find some space to paint the car in (and keep the damn bugs away, when you're painting outside, you'll know how they love dieing in a fresh paintjob).
I would also like to point out that a good base of primer is a lot nicer to paint on, less work required to get the paint to cover uniformly (which is a nice when you're using a light color like yellow)... FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Hey, nice project! LOVE the car park!
I can't see how it is ever going to be a clean flat painted car when using a paint roller. My theory is that the metal doesn't absorb the paint, and thereby the paint layers will be bumpy. But I haven't got any experience, so I'm looking forward to see the finished job. The idea is t use thinned paint, which will flatten itself a bit before it dries, and to wetsand between every two layers of paint.
That this can result in showroom quality paintjobs has been proven, look for 50 dollar paintjob, the original thread was on some american forum (look for an orange dodge charger). FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

I am redoing them lol. It doesnt look that great. Rolling the body will be a tad easier because its in a flat surface. But if it ends up looking like butt i'll just re do em. Only problem is the really crappy weather! Spending $2000 to make a really slow car just slow. |

Ahh, okay I see.
Man what a long and painstaking job... I would have gone for the electric spraygun.. But I sure am looking forward to the finished result. Regards Lars Veiss, Denmark Currently [URL=http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic/dk-ae86-renovation-and-turbo-project---now-driveable/t/2474/start=150[/URL] |
