miro,
i use ~3 kg front and rear TRD springs.. they are a bit on the soft side but i run my dampers on a soft setting as well.. 6 / 4 kg would probably be the limit to still drive fast over bumps on slijme and comfortably during the day. http://trdparts.jp/english/parts_spring.html i got the springs 48131-AE811 and 48231-AE811 but ill check if other spring rates are available.. |

they are also a bit on the expensive side. cca 190 eur for the complete set and than there's shipping, customs, taxes..
Fallquz, have you by any chance measured the exact drop vs the oem springs? It looks like i'll have to go with the apexes. What do you think people, will they match well with TOKICO HP blues shocks? I hate haveing so litlle choices. |

Finding springs that work with stock suspension components is a
bit of a problem. Here are two different "lowering" springs for the front of the AE86. The black one in the centre is the standard GT spring @ 1.8 kg/mm. The red one on the left is a "cosmetic" lowering spring, very soft and comfortable, and sits about 60 down from stock. Not really suitable for fast driving, and you are almost sitting on the bumpstops. The blue one on the right is an Espelir GT Active Down "sports" lowering spring @ 3.0 kg/mm. These sit about 40 down from stock and provide a firm, but not harsh, ride over all surfaces. For comparison, TRD used 2.8 kg/mm for their "Low Street Springs". I am running the Espelirs with AGX shox, and have shortened the strut housings by 40 above the spring perch. This gives me a bit more bump travel, while still retaining the appearance of stock suspension. This setup is not even close to a "drift" suspension, but it works fine for driving over our typical rough and uneven suburban streets Cheers... jondee86 The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Ok... am I lobotomized or what??
obviously I am searching on the wrong places... No springs for AE86 https://www.momentumgt.com/teinstechspri...p-823.html Got a few sets but http://www.extremeturbosystems.com/Toyot..._info.html No info on the spring rate bit pricey http://www.raceinspired.com/ps-2171-36-e...-1987.aspx Yet- no spring rate bit cheeper- still no spring rate http://www.advancespeedshop.com/eibach-p...-1335.html still no spring rate... http://www.nyxracing.com/eibach-prokit-s...34871.html Has some explanation about the spring rate increase 20-30% http://www.hopupracing.com/esasdsptocog.html but never heard of them.... same with half a dozen links... Let's run the basic again... Apolan, we are searching for 6 kg/mm front and 4 kg/mm back That is a good drift suspension jet not too stif for the road... If I don't find them before next paycheck- I am making my own at the blacksmith in Zagreb.... please help me, where to search? SNO-MO-BIRU project started- CHIRO |

Coil springs...
mrgud i've made a thread before - research and findings:
Apolan Wrote:EDIT: Lets make this the place to have a proper discussion about springs for our beloved cars. All about prings for non-adjustable setups. from: http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic/springs-f...ht=springs Theese megan racing springs sit too low for normal/long stroke. 5 cm drop is too much. I think i like espelir best at the moment. Eibachs lower more at the rear than in the front, i hate that. From all the above i like espelir the best, and i will buy them probably - will they work good on normalstroke Tokico HP blues?. Mrgud, options are limited, you will just have to go shortstroke and coilover for drifting. srry |

Coil springs...
I had to order the Espelir springs from Japan. I may have named them
incorrectly above (there is some confusion about the part number) ... because here is a listing from Mackin Industries in the USA.. http://www.mackinindustries.com.... ESA086 ACTIVE SUPER DOWN (blue) 85-87 Toyota Corolla GT-S (AE86) ASD 40mm 40mm 3.0-2.8 $230.00 ESG086 ACTIVE GT (red) 85-87 Toyota Corolla GT-S (AE86) GT 40mm 40mm 4.0-3.1 $340.00 I tried to buy the Active GT but you can't get them in Japan, as I think they are a USA market only item. And no-one in the USA seemed to be selling them last year (or even know anything about them), so I settled for the ASD springs. Maybe they are in the stores now ? I think the Active GT would be ideal for road use with some autocross or grip track time. Will probably look for them again when I have finished some other improvements Cheers... jondee86 The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
