Color choices
Heya people,
So I am going to paint my car soon. I've been thinking about a 2 tone color scheme but talking to my friend who's doing the painting that will cost me a fair amount more because he can't do the work in a single day then due to additional drying time within the heated spray booth. So I am thinking about going single tone. What I can't seem to deside on is the color, offcourse a shade of blue seems best because it will match with my interiour and I'm only painting the outside of my car so the engine bay and such will remain blue for now. Still I think that isn't a good enough reason not to think about other colours. White is probably my all time favorite but at the same time, I don't want people to think I want to be like all other Initial D loving AE86 owners Black is nice but I've heard small imperfections in the body really show on black and since this is a 20 year old car there are some imperfection in the body won't be able to get out. Then there is a darker shade of blue which also has my preference.. Just out of interest, what would you guys do in my possition? Also tell me if you think I should paint the bumpers in the same color or keep them black? Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

don't paint it white.... I'm planning to rebuild one in white!
I really like the colour it is right now, you should repaint it and make it a twotone (blue over black). Why motorsports? Because other sports require only one ball! |

And keep the bumpers as they are. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

I was planning on blue/black two tone as well, but lately have been rethinking since blue and black arent the best combination...(blue/grey however..). Dont do red over black, it's way to common. Holland will be swarming with white hachi's soon so I wouldnt go for that either. I see a white coupe with black bumpers every week and it doesnt look very spectacular (it was recently painted...used to be some horrible dark shade of blue). Seth (not on this forum) has a white coupe and wants to keep it that way (all white incl bumpers). Robokill is going for panda two tone.
If you dont mind looking flashy baby blue is a very sexy colour for coupe's. I attached the pic somewhere in the moderator forums so if you could possibly link it through to here (the picture I mean). With that blue interior of yours I would stick to blue as well. Here's an idea that just popped into my brain: British Racing Green.. I LOVE that colour. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |
