Corolla GT Coupe - Royalty Black
Hey, here goes my project. My first AE86 that i will drive for many years!
History - My dad had two corollas, a '69 KE10 and a '71 KE30, followed by a crashed AE86 ph1 in 88. My passion started there! The buy - All started out in January 15th, 2011. That night i couldn't sleep, woke up by 7a.m, with only a couple of hours of sleep, my dad drove me to the register departement to sign up the paperwork. It was mine finally! The present - After i checked up all the aspects of my AE86, not all but the essential, the car will be riding with minor scratchs and bumps, the paint needs work, but in general it's rideable! The future - I'm planning a full restauratiom to the car, followed by a small rev on the engine, a tuneup that will be enough to make it a classical! Some pictures! As soon as i entered the car! Late that night i had no horn! LOL A minor bump... solved the day i bought it! The engine room, the day i bought it! Bump, solved! And the final pictures, it needs some adjustements! Next to come.... |

After some days, i knew that my differential was dead... So, i decided to drive the car carefully to not break up things inside it, and my mechanic said, drive it normally and you'll be fine. So i did since then
Some pictures. The interior is cool, btw... Below the spoiler... bad news!!! Solved! And.. some bad news, water..... That i still did not solved entirely! The paint..... needs some work.. The only engine problem i got, is a small leak by the water pump joint! And because news aren't all bad, my 4.5 ratio final drive came! |

Some more pictures, and i'm sorry for the spamm, hope you enjoy reading this project as i enjoy reading all the other projects in here! Taken at my university! And some fisheye attempts.. The car seems in general good condition, need some love and some work.
I would clean the motor bay Some questions, with the 4.5 final ratio, how many RPM at 100Km/h in 5th (on tachometer)? Do you feel the new acceleration? |

Hey, it the paint looks really nice in the last pictures!

Hey!
I am trying to learn some things about car detail. The paint is still good, just needs some work and polish! I haven't installed my new final drive yet! I was hoping for a brand new LSD, but it's still too expensive for me... So i'm going back on stock open differential! I had a website with those calc's, need to look for it! Regards |

You´re sure with the open diff?
If its a genuine AE86 it should have disc brakes at the back and 20% (some had 60%) OEM LSD, wich works pretty well. If you want you can buy a uprated rebuild kit with a solid spacer and get it all installed by a professional. http://www.weirperformance.com/maxgriplsdkits.html 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

I suppose Portuguese AE86's came with open differentials....
things to do: - New front shock absorbers (APEX springs in good shape) - Stock Air filter, piping, etc... - Repair my differential - Some detail on the paint - Security measures like, alarm, and some security tweaks... And it's good to roll! |
