DIV 1 rally/track suspension setup
If you have never driven on Irish roads I can tell you they are mostly very bumpy tarmac and a lot of the rally crews actually use forest type suspension on them.

Irish Tarmac is so bumpy they actually raise the rear shock mounts in ae86s up about 150mm to allow the running of suspension with more travel. GP4 are now a sponcer on ae86irl so questions will be answered on there also.
I watch alot of Rally, & Bel/Hol/Ger tarmac is sooo different, no comparision to Irish Tarmac which is more like forest as Totta said. last rally I was at in Ireland, back in 08, was at the same locations as camera man, see why they need good soft suspension http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12MhbMWBMng Next stage suspension does help!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75JHe54xs5I An 86 is for Life, not just for Christmas |

I didn't get any answer yet from grp4 productions
Over here they will give me an offer for a good bilstein according to them,so im curious. Hm it looks a bit different indeed. Its less big bumps but the roads are +- same No room for error, cutting corners is a must. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zY0oM68iC8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEHBQpmeb...re=related lots of english drivers compete here too. |

Totta, I think you're jumping to conclusions mate.. I also didn't quite understand what your point was with the remarks about Irish rally stages.
One extra line of text would probably clear everything up. Sometimes the short texts of internet format can be difficult..certainly when people aren't communicating in their mother tongue. I'm sure all your insights have been very welcome. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Im afraid im not following either?:s
I have a word file with all setups and yours is into it to. Next to it i noted in bold that i need to be carefully because the roads are different like you said. And then i watched some video's and saw that there are indeed alot more big bumps. Overe here its more bad roads/rallied roads with lots of cutting. Pure tarmac I am sorry if i offended you and it was certainly not my intention. |

The point about Irish roads that I should have made clearer is that
40mm inserts would help when it is that bumpy but they are not totally necessary if the roads are smoother and as the inserts were not originally designed to work on a Corolla they may be something of a compromise. I have tried both and the TRD's are better by comparison. Sorry for any confusion and I will amend my remark as above, no offence taken ditn  An analogue brain in a digital World |

What cornerweights do you use to calculate ride frequency on AE86? I might have been too optimistic with that (Front 275, Rr 225)
I have to guess since I did not measure it so far... I checked for the wheel rates again: looks like: 4/3.3kg at the wheel. (I did not re-measure the spring dimensions so far) Not sure where I got it from but for motion ratio i used 0.88 in the rear. is it correct? |
