DIV 1 rally/track suspension setup
Some bad news really,

Grp4 can not be used for me due to div 1 regulations that sucks :s
So i have to throw alot of good setups away Sad
I can ask them how it its done for anyone who wants to do it here.

For the front we can offer
Bilstein coil over front suspension/springs/top mount

Price 469 euro per side—you will need to send us your AE86 struts so we can change them to coilover

All prices include VAT

the turrets need modifications too,thats Sad

So now my best bet is

- Front Bilsteins from a 3000GT or 200SX, 46mm piston variety (2x)
- Sierra GP4 strut tube
- Bilstein adjustable shaft (2x)
- Rear Bilstein ASN shock with 5" stroke

or i can let them rework my koni's with custom springs like he has done for previous ae86's over here.
Complete with measurements.

i will keep you updated and try to get the setup so i can give it to who wants in mail.
price would be arround 800€ for all four with springs.

True,there alot of rules to be followed and not all are described in the book.
So i need to ask arround.
But this is the only way to have a track/rallycar with rollcage that is still legal on the road with a greep paper.

Like said in another post
you either go for the rollcage and less options
or you go for the 'foefle' way with regular inspection and no rollcage or none legal rollcage

I thought about making mine div1 but i need coilovers and camberplates so it's a no go.

Ditn, at this point I believe you should either do a ton more research or just hand your pennies to someone who knows what they are doing. The knowledge gap at the moment is just too big (not meant in any offensive way).

The koni based setup sounds ok for the money, will they be revalving them for you?
For custom valved rallye Bilsteins you can contact Bilstein direct. The shocks should be around 150e each, with another 150e for revalving and custom lengths. To be honest, I would just go with the koni's at the moment. The rest of the paths is very DIY and has the potential of causing lots of frustration and a season of missed events. No matter how good the setup eventually is it wouldn't weight up against the loss of fun and experience.

You could always swap them out for normal inspection
here is some usefull information:
The div 1 inspection is in two sections:
*pre inspection each year
*inspection at the rally

if you will never do rally you can do the pre inspection each year and come with coilovers they do not care.
You will still get your yellow book for the cage but with a paper of what is not conform
The but is at rally inspection your screwed but that does not apply for you.
And then you swap the coilovers out for regular inspection and your good to go with a rollcage Thumbs up!

The reason i am not doing is that i want at all time the suspension i will be using and with a non compromising engine then(eg for normal inspection you can hide an supercharger but you can't at rally inspection)
Not to say 2 setups a coilover and a koni setup is redicilus expensive

no offense taken and your right,im running out of options and i do not have enough knowdlegde at this stage.

The most important reason i do this is because the springs right now is a screwed up setup and like i said they measure and put it in the book.
The front is lowered alot and back is in the air( which is the cause of the oversteering i think.)
I think your right and i should go with the koni plan.
Yes they do everything,basicly they built a koni from the ground up.
Looks like a normal koni but is completely different.
The plan they follow is
*measure everything
*discussion
*built
custom made

and then revision each year

Interesting.

So only pre-inspection and i can legally put a cage in.

I'm not going to use it for rally so...

Only drift and maybe some track racing. A drift setup is much easier i guess.

Im going to do pre inspection end february so i will let you know how it goes.
The price is 50€ a year for an inspection,small price Smile
You don't even need a rally license.

The only restrictions are
bolted rollcage
<2000 cc engine

So i passed the rally inspection without the new setup.
Had to work day and night to get the car ready for the inspection and didnt even have time for the setup Sad
The good news is that they believed me that i was changing the suspension.

What i will do is what NoHachi suggested
Together with the person we will renew the excisting shocks and use springs that will lower the car no more than 1 cm with a spring rate arround 4/3 .

The only thing i need to know is the standard height from the car.
All i could find was 1335 mm,does this mean both the back and the front were 1335 mm?

Could you explain this in a bit more of detail:
A big front swaybar/no rear swaybar setup is usually fastest on an AE86.

its really interesting and i am trying to understand why.
I went to the boucles de spa this weekend and i peeked abit at the ae86's who were driving there.All of them had no rear swaybar and what looked like a 24mm blue trd front swaybar.

one more thing,the shocks in the gront are bilstein b8 without the cover and painted red...
that was quite the shocker

rally inspection will be no problem for you if you want it for rollcage but want to keep rally forbidden parts.They just check them and you need to fix them before a rally Smile

For anyone that is interested.
I had the suspension made with koni's in the back and bilsteins in the front
total costs was 1200€ for all four.
Tested on the circuit and it was Thumbs up! ,totally worth it and roald legal.
