remove the rust thats first prior than you can redo it with primer (not yet full paint jobs) until you get the car respayd.

Removing rust will be either euhm grind it off and when you find holes replace the metal.

I know about painting cars, no experience though. I have rust treatments, theres a hole behind the front left wheel, about 1.5 cm wide... body filler time? or put a piece of metal over it?

With such a small hole I imagine you can just use body filler. Just remember to take your time and make sure you grind/cut off all the rust in that area. If you do a half-assed job, the rust will only come back.

Good luck!

Grind off all the rust, especially clean the swiss-cheese like bit around the hole. Dont forget that panels have 2 sides, or it will just start rusting from the back again.
Once it's cleaned immediately apply a rust treatment (rust converter), because blank metal will start oxidating the second it's clean. Then apply filler and a good coat of acid primer.

This is just the amateur botch-job way of doing things, but if you had the cash to have this done professionally you wouldnt be asking us now would you.

Body filler will be pretty useless, if you do it with body filler, it will be a short fix... your rust is for cut &replace, and asap... looks like a lot of work on your car....

Yeah, I would try to find a mate that can weld and has some body repair experience. Cut out the rusty bits around that hole and weld in a new plate so no rust is left behind.

The other bits you should grind down so the rust is completely removed and then treat the bare metal with some acid primer to stop it from rusting again. Then take a look at how much metal is left behind and if its filler time or if those bits turned out to be worse then expected and its also welding time..

As far as I can see it does not look like a cover... Undecided
But I don't think removing his wheelcovers are part of the subject, so please back on topic. Wink
