JSP mounts lower the engine subframe by 40mm. By doing this you mess up the front suspension geometry. In fact it's a bit the same like lowering your car and don't put roll center adjusters. You'll get bump steer.
Some massive RCA could cure the bump steer problem with the lowered engine subrame in combination with the JSP mounts

Massive spacers don't always fit inside rims.. and with a proper 60mm dropped race height corolla and 40mm spacers those RCA's have to be something HUGE to get anything back to spec. Definately not off the shelf available no?

Also, since you raise the chassis relative to the steering rack other wonkeyness is introduced. I thought long an hard about it a long time ago and concluded that the compromises didn't way up against the benefits, but haven't remembered most of the stuff: things like roll axis inclination, anti-squat at the rear etc. Ground clearance is reduced by a further 40mm (imho huge) without the optical benefits of lowering.

My guess is that any race shop can make you custom mounts for less then the JSP-Fab stuff, or just buy one of the std rally design engine mount kits and adapt to suit. Tranny tunnel is just sheetmetal work. Same price, same awesome engine, better engine location (F20C is a pig compared to the 4AGE, you need it as far back and down as you dare) and no geometry compromises.

I do understand the attraction of the plug and play idea though.. Just believe that it can be done near plug and play without the spacers. He did a SR20DET kit in the same way and I have seen many an SR sit perfectly fine inside the hachi without any need for chassis spacers.

tnx for explanation.
i have 10mm subrframe spacer on my sr86, and I try to reduce the negative effect by running smaller wheels, s13 suspension, custom knuckles to reduce bump steer and so on.

SR20 is similar in size to CA18DET? Its sits in mine without any spacers. The bonnet is butchered to create space for the head, but otherwise it sits ok. Guess 10mm is also less drastic then 40mm.

With the BEAMS I lowered the subframe 5mm only, i defenitly did not want to go lower because of messing up the geometry like NoHachi said.
I really think you should put in some work and have some nice engine mounts or whatever made.

It is a little bit more work now, but you will allways be glad you did it the proper way when you are finaly driving the car.

thanks for the advices guys. Tomorrow i will hear more about the possible engine, gearbox etc. Hope the price will be nice. I definitly argree with Aram to take some more effort to keep the geometry correct.

Thanks for your inpunt guys. Talked to an US guy this weekend who was kind enough to measure the spacers for me, they are a massive 48mm tall. This lets me think that it might be the wrong route.

the rebuilding of the house have costed me a lot of precious time, but finally looking to the last things that needs to be done, so slowly we can start thinking about the car again.

meanwhile got a SXE10 gearbox from gearboxconversion.com in the storage. Complete conversion box to mount on a 4age and to fit in the original shifter hole.. Next: engine...
