parrot Wrote:It's odd isn't it. You would assume there would be an area of reinforcement with an undrilled hole to accept a clutch master in shells destined to be TE2x's.

TE2X have a completely different firewall strengthening plate. BMC in a different location etc ect. Mayor disappointment.

@Doc, will you strengthen the firewall similar to the BMC or brace the clutch master in any way? Can you see the firewall moving when you try and operate the clutch?

Nice going for showing the rest of us how to tackle this problem! Time to find an AE82 on the junk and get to work on mine.

YES i was! Big Grin
That's why it took a year, i'm not that confident of myself to drill a hole that large in my firewall, so i only did it when i had somebody to help!

parrot Wrote:How many times did you check your measurements first?

Coming along nicely.

Thanks!
We did check it a couple of times (like: measure twice, cut once..) but still got it wrong Confused
It's in now, it doesn't deserve an award for nicest job, but it works! Big Grin

The firewall is 4 sheets thick in the BMC area and 3 sheets thick in the CMC area. I can't see the firewall moving, because there's no engine and no clutch in the car yet, so the CMC doesn't really have to 'work' yet, there's almost no resistance in the pedal.

Btw, almost all Toyota CMC's will work, i know that Robert (i think you know him Damir, he had the brown KE20 with 2T engine) uses a Starlet EP82 master cylinder.

Thanks doc. Already knew about the CMC thing. Just need an XX82 for its bonnet closing mechanism as well.

What are you looking for off an AE82? There are millions of them here, and I'm off to the wreckers on Sunday morning. Happy to send something if it isn't too big.

Edit. woops, sorry this was meant to be a PM!

well, as seen in the previous post, the old brake setup didn't fit anymore, so i had to fiddle with that to make it work.

Ingredients:

single exit brake thingy:

bit of brake pipe:

T-piece of a donor rear axle:

Should work! Big Grin

Also refitted the rear shocks, and when i had the wheels off, i couldn't resist testing the SSR wheels on the car Big Grin

I put a tire on 1 wheel, to try and do the hairspray trick, but i failed and damaged the wheel in the process, needs to be resprayed now Sad

The car is on ride height on these pics:

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Doc's KE20: - really coming together now]

widthwise they are very good fitting! 1mm outside the flares on each side! Big Grin

But there's still a big arch gap, way to big for my liking:
[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Doc's KE20: - really coming together now]

I think i'll go for some bigger tires, 195/45 is too small for my liking (should've tought about that when i ordered tires :Smile )

Other then that, they look awesome to me! Big Grin

That archgap should disappear mostly when it sits on its feet. Wink
But then you still have a gap on the sides. Undecided
I'd say: fit some stretched ballons on it and you won't notice it that much anymore. Wink
