Engine block assembly
Quick request of opinions:
Would you use gasket sealer on the rear crankshaft cover and the oil pump assembly flanges (along with the OEM gaskets of course)? Cheers! SFD |

Well, I have sanded the surfaces with fine grit paper, so they are pretty smooth...

Scrape off the old gasket, get it sanded with 400, worked fine for me

Contact areas are prepared for assembly. I will be using the OEM metal gaskets from the rebuild kit. The question is whether to use also gasket sealer (high pressure/temperature) or not. The manual does not mention use of sealer so I thought I'd ask here for opinions.

I would put some on it..
to bad if it starts leaking 5 minutes after first start...

If you use the metal gaskets I´d put a litte sealant on it, as said before, you´ll definatly regret if your engine leaks after a few km´s...

Just beware you don't use too much of the sealer.
