2nd gear synchro?

Yep

is this a common issue with the T50 gearbox? I'm having trouble shifting to the 2nd gear (gets stuck). possible symptom of the saame issue?

It's a common issue with these gear boxes i believe.
Best to have a spare one.

Got the first 2 hayashi's polished:

don't forget that the youngest T50 gearbox is allready 22 years old and has a lot of milage done. Also you downshift to 2nd whenever you into a bigger turn (so that gets the biggest beating).

And teh T50 isn't the best box in the world..

Combining that, you can get problems after a few kilometers.

W50 + John Barnes bellhousing! Big Grin

W58 sits behind the Supra MA70 N/A i believe, don't know about the bellhousing. Not super rare, bot it ain't a VW gearbox, you find on any streetcorner Tongue
