Engine swap questions
I didn't know where to post this but here goes.
I bought my silver Hachi and it came with a blown, carbed 3TC motor in it. I have a FWD 16v bluetop 4AG that I can throw in it, or I could find another 3TC block to install in it and run the hachi like that. What would you do? Its not a hachiroku without a 4age in it. You have a suitable engine, i transplanted a fwd engine into one of my cars and its not too hard.

Engine swap questions
yeah but this one had a 3TC in it and it was carbed so I would have to run fuel lines and the only part of the wiring harness I have for the ecu is the engine part, so If I put a 3TC back into it everything is easier.

Mulisha, buy KP61, put the 3TC in it and use 4AGTE in hachiroku :-)

I think that not everyone here has a clear understanding of what a 3TC is capable off. A turboed 3TC blows the 4A-GE out of the water, its much more chunky and holds a LOT of boost.
Take a look here: http://www.toyota3tc.com and see whats possible. After the supra engine, this is the toyota drag-engine of choice. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

now im left with another decision. Should I turbo charge the 3TC or turbo charge the 4AG. But I still need the 3TC block if I go that route

2 Mulisha:
3TC will be turbo-monster but your tranny will broke over ~200 hp. That way maybe revvy 4AGE (--->4AGTE) is more exciting ! |

Who cares about a tranny. Source a W series bellhousing and use that. Even NA the 3TC can be a formidable engine. Its not uncomon that it outperformes the 4A-GE with the same mods. 2.0ltr displacement is an advantage. It has twincams too, so theres not much between them. the 3tc is better built and can hold more hp safely. That does mean that its heavy.
4A-GE AE86's are everywhere. Walk the different road and build yourself a 3TC monster. For an axample take a look at paradise racings stuff. I believe they extract around 750hp from the block. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |
