Gear Box option - again?
I know this topic might being discuss for ages!
really want to change my T50 as it rattle all the time, although new syn and bearing replaced. bushing on the TRD short
Any suggestion on a 6 speed gear box? I know CBY has a custom bellhousing for the GX100 6 speeder, but it just far too expensive.

The other reasonable way to go is Altezza SXE10 / Mazda Miata 1.8 / Honda S2K / S15 gear box - 6 speed...

but how to solve the different bell housing matching problem.
Even for the SXE10, it cant bolt directly to the 4A, any body has done such a similar swap before?
thanks to advise

T50 and altezza housings matted together Smile The only "cheap" way to go.

As you see, the adapter is finished, and now so is the custom input shaft. The reason this isn't in production is simple... there was never enough demand shown to invest the €12,000 - €15,000 needed to put the 1st 25 kits into production.

This "kit" would cost about €1500 per kit. This kit was designed to be used with the AZ6 from the Mazda MX5 Miata. The AZ6 "we" know is the J160, and uses a different tail housing, and has different ratios.

Oh... the S2000 Honda does NOT use this gearbox. The cars using this gearbox are the S15 GT-R, the Altezza GXE and SXE10, the RX8, the MX5. Here are the different factory ratios....

S15 6 spd 3.626 2.200 1.541 1.213 1.000 0.767
RX8 6 spd 3.760 2.269 1.645 1.187 1.000 0.843
Miata 6-spd 99- 3.760 2.269 1.645 1.257 1.000 0.843
SXE10 6 sp 3.874 2.175 1.484 1.223 1.000 0.869

Besides the factory gear sets, HKS makes a set or 2(over $10,000) and TRD makes a set.

The S15 drivers have the highest failure rate, their mass, and torque and grip levels are what kills this transmission - S15 is 2800#s, and over 205#/ft of torque

There isn't a Corolla anywhere that would have that combination of mass and torque... the likelyhood of breaking an AZ6 is minimal at best

The EASYEST way would be just to get it build by some one who knows what hes doing. But once again - you would need to have BOTH bell housings too...

well, few more question.

what about the input shaft, use the T50 one or SEX one.
And, total length of the gear box, need to modify the drive shaft to fit.

Thanks for the advise

Yung

You should answer this one your self once you see both gearboxes Big Grin

Ofcorse you will going to use SXE one - cuz there is no way to use T50 one Big Grin You will be using SXE gearbox as a whole with only T50 front part of the housing molded to SXE rear part of housing...

Take a look at the pics - study them - and you will see everything.

You will have to get custom clutch disk build to support SXE shaft and carry corolla disk size.
