Personally wouldnt bother with running ITB's on a forced induction setup unless you were going for some serious efficiency.

Plenham setups, when built properly, are more efficient than throttle bodies as you cna carry a cross sectional area that is relative to the port dimentions.

I can fabricate a good plenham setup to run for forced induction, but space in the bay us tight around the brake servo.

Hello from the UK
Woooo. Impressed.

By the way (and sorry to use your topic Ben but i m almost sure u are intrested) have you heard about Golf GT that is about to be unveiled in Frankfurt Motor Show (which by the way i wil not follow, as DRIVE Magazine is published each months 15th, and Frankfurt press days are 11-12-13 Angry )?

Well, along with the Golf R32 there will be the Golf GT, the 1.4 lt FSI engine of which produces 170 PS using a super and a turbo chargers in line!!!

I dont like VW's and especially Golfs, but that move is at least impressing.

Hello from the UK
compound charging is called, and has been done for a long time.

Most successful would be the lancia delta S4.

it can be complex, but if you get it to work for high boost turbo systems, the charger helps at low rpm.

Yeah, I know all this. The italians did fantastic job back then.
I ment it is pretty impressive in a more theoritical way. Fuel prices go up, oil supplies are constantly reducing and still we see more and more turbo engines! And know "twin" turbo?
Even, has the super-turbo-charged 1.4 FSI such low emissions that it's choosen to replace the old "not-acceptable" 1.8 20v Turbo?

Toyota stopped producing Previa, Celica and MR2 in America (from 2006 also in Europe) because such cars made the average emmisions of the brand higher! And VW gets a twin charged middle weight car?

Anyway, sorry to bother you with all this thoughts...

Hello from the UK
Check out the press kit and found sme answers:

VW insists that the Twincharged 1.4's fuel consamption is 20% lower than a significant horsepower 2,3 liter engine.

It has a 7,2 litres per 100 km average consumption, and that is smaller than the 2 liyter FSI with the 150ps. Impresive...

Hello from the UK
its all about controlling the burn quality.

I have made a couple engines with an BSFC of 0.38 and they are very efficient when you run the correct cam and ignition timing, even the egt's can be kept very very low.

Hi Ben, welcome here.

I was just wondering which simulation program/suite you use and whether you have a working model of a stock silvertop..

I would like to design a carbon airbox for a silvertop. Would be nice if I could throw the thing into GT-Power to calculate runner lengths etc.

A wheel to steer the front of the car
A pedal to steer the rear
